For a long time, I’ve been sharing the benefits of decluttering and embracing a simpler, minimal lifestyle.
Simply put, a simpler life lets you focus on what really matters.
It allows you to save money, time, and resources spent maintaining items and gives you peace of mind because you’re able to spend your mental energy on the things that truly matter to you.
Minimalism gives you the space and freedom to chase your dreams and make your goals a reality, BUT there’s also a benefit that often gets overlooked.
With less stuff occupying our time, we can give more of ourselves to the betterment of our community and the world around us.
There is so much joy that can be found from focusing less on ourselves and more on helping others around us.
Here’s my encouragement and challenge for you—find a cause that YOU are passionate about and a way that works for you to get involved. It doesn’t have to be anything big, overly complicated, flashy, or elaborate. This may mean something as simple as a donation, volunteering, or an encouraging message.
Just start somewhere!
You may be surprised what this small step of altruism leads to.
Here’s one more bonus challenge: make a commitment to do something CONSISTENTLY for this cause over a set period of time. You can define the terms of your own challenge—maybe you do this for a week, a month, or 6 months…it’s totally up to you!
Why is this important?
Setting a timeframe for something like this, so you can see the benefits over time, brings consistency into your life. By consistently focusing on yourself LESS and a good cause MORE, I hope you’ll find it has positive effects on your overall sense of joy and peace.
What will you do to “take the me out of minimalism” this week?
