This summer I’ve been finding SO much joy in less.
Don’t get me wrong—I’m the “type of minimalist” who is all for not adhering to specific numbers of items and would encourage you to have greater amounts of books or other items if those are the things that fill your life with abundance and joy.
We’ve got a lot on the go for our family this summer, and I’ve had to really pull back on many of the things I typically do during this season, like gardening.
This doesn’t mean I’ve given it up, but I purposefully planted a much smaller variety, with fewer plants, pots, and hanging baskets than normal.
And guess what?
I’ve found MORE joy in this smaller version that I’ve created for myself.
I think often we feel the pressure to build on our progress year over year and season over season, but sometimes, that’s just not the reality we have to work with—and that’s totally okay!
There is a lot of wisdom and peace to be found in purposefully scaling back and taking time for true rest if that’s what you need.
So I would encourage you to look at your work, hobbies, activities, and more this season and ask yourself—where might I find joy in less?
