Join me this week for another decluttering challenge! We’ll go through 6 items that you can get rid of from your home today. Today’s blog is a summer edition, so let’s get to work and see which seasonal items we can pare down!
1. Plant Pots
By now you’ve probably gotten the majority of your garden or plants into pots, which makes it a great time to see what’s left over and can be gotten rid of or passed along! See if there’s anything that’s broken, can’t be repaired, or that you no longer like. Don’t forget to get rid of any plastic trays or pots you no longer need—you can also check and see if your local greenhouse takes these back!
2. Hoses, Sprinklers, Watering Cans
I’m putting all of these outdoor watering appliances into one category! Often these break or get replaced and we forget to deal with the broken ones. I also find that I end up accumulating more than I need.

3. Hats
I love a good sun hat to protect my face from UV rays, but I rotate between 2 that I love—a baseball cap and a wide-brimmed sun hat. You should be able to easily identify the hats that you consistently wear, and then you can give yourself permission to say goodbye to the rest!
4. Old/Uncomfortable Shoes
I had a pair of shoes that I had purchased last year for gardening and doing outdoor chores, only to find that they were very uncomfortable and gave me blisters! When it came time to pull out my summer shoes this season, I chose to get rid of them and retire an old pair of sneakers to be my new gardening/outdoor chores shoes.
5. Water Bottles
Water bottles seem to magically duplicate and accumulate in our home. Recently, I was tired of the clutter and decided to reduce our inventory to one water bottle each! It’s been much easier to keep track of a single water bottle and my cupboards are thanking me for it! While getting rid of all but one may be a bit extreme for your situation, I’d challenge you to see if you can find a few that you no longer need.

6. Old Sunscreen and Bugspray
We go through so much sunscreen and bugspray in the summer and often find bottles that are half-full in our seasonal summer box. Go through your collection and see if there’s any that you’ve used up—if you find you have many bottles that are only partially full, make sure to put them in an easy-to-grab spot so you can use them up first!
